We deliver and implement MES for production recording in two convenient models

aveneo.MES, a production recording platform, is available in two implementation models: local (on-premises) and in the cloud (SaaS). Cloud deployment is almost instantaneous and can be completed within a few days, ensuring rapid availability and minimizing the time needed to start using the system. On-premise implementation, on the other hand, takes a bit more time as it involves preparing local infrastructure, but both models are interchangeable, giving customers the flexibility to adapt to changing needs and preferences.

MES implementation in the SaaS model

Implementing software in the SaaS (Software as a Service) model involves using an application that is hosted and made available by the software supplier via the Internet. Customers can use the software via subscription, which eliminates the need to install, maintain and update local infrastructure, ensuring flexibility of access and scalability of resources depending on current business needs.

Advantages of cloud implementation

  • Access to production data in real time from any place and device.

  • Elimination of infrastructure purchase and maintenance costs.

  • Ability to quickly start the system without the need to install software.

  • Lower implementation costs.

  • Any scalability of the solution.

Local MES implementation (On-premises)

Software implementation in the on-premises model involves installing and configuring the system directly on the client's IT infrastructure, usually inside their own facilities and server rooms. This model gives customers full control over their data and infrastructure, which is especially important for companies with strict regulations regarding privacy and data security.

Advantages of local implementation

  • Access and recording of production data independent of Internet access.

  • Increased data security and choice of where to store it.

  • MES integration with existing software.

  • Using existing infrastructure for implementation.

  • No recurring subscription fees.

The procedure for implementing MES software in your company in three simple steps

The implementation of MES software depends on the selected implementation model. For a SaaS model, this process may take approximately 2 to 3 days to launch the environment, allowing you to immediately start configuring your production panels and logging data. Implementation in the on-premises model in the client's infrastructure requires, in our experience, from 100 to 300 man-hours of implementation work, including environment preparation.

Regardless of the selected model, from day zero you can configure production operator panels so that they can record data immediately, which speeds up system adaptation.

The next stage after implementation is integration with machines and possible development of new functions in the form of programming work. We provide not only implementation, but also assistance and technical support at every stage of the process. Additionally, we also maintain solutions, including taking care of the critical infrastructure needed for the operation of our MES, which ensures business continuity and peace of mind in maintaining the system.

Analysis

Determining the scope of recorded data

The second step is to determine how to record data. Regardless of whether we record them as a result of integration with the machine, additional measurement or manually, their value as data is invaluable in further optimization processes.

The second step is to determine how to record data. Regardless of whether we record them as a result of integration with the machine, additional measurement or manually, their value as data is invaluable in further optimization processes.

Determining integration points

The final stage of the analysis is to determine the integrations necessary for the system to operate. If we want to correlate data with employees, order numbers or other data, we must either enable the entry and management of this data in our software or prepare integration with the client's existing software.

Implementation

Preparing the environment

The second stage is the installation of the necessary components and the implementation of the basic version of aveneo.MES.

IIoT recorder from aveneo

Regardless of the chosen implementation model, recording production data directly from devices and machines is always possible with MES software from aveneo

IIoT recorder from aveneo Independence from the implementation model is a fundamental feature of our MES solution. aveneo uses dedicated, local devices - aveneo.MES.Box, which act as a buffer for data recorded in the local database. These devices are installed at a single workstation or machine, and then, via the MQTT protocol, data is sent to the central database, ensuring continuity of information flow regardless of the implementation model or the current state of infrastructure - whether in the cloud (SaaS) or on local servers (on-premises).

aveneo.MES.Box devices are required only if you want to integrate a given workstation/machine/device and record data automatically. No special devices are required for operators to record data - any computer or tablet with a web browser and access to the implementation infrastructure - a local server or cloud - is enough.

MES in the browser

Access to MES production software from a web browser on any device

MES in the browser Production software running in a browser offers a number of advantages over classic desktop solutions. Firstly, browser-based accessibility eliminates the need to install and configure the software at each workstation, which significantly reduces implementation time and costs. Secondly, the data is stored in a central server, which ensures data consistency and availability from any place and device. Additionally, our browser-based software offers a user interface designed for ease of use and intuitiveness, which translates into ease of learning and increased operator efficiency. Finally, software updates can be rolled out centrally even while the solution is in use, eliminating the need to manually update each workstation and ensuring users have access to the latest features and fixes without any additional action on their part.

Unlimited integrations thanks to aveneo.SDK

Seamless integration of our MES system with existing production software and ERP systems

Thanks to the use of aveneo.SDK, our software can be integrated with both any device and existing software, including ERP systems. Our integration model is mainly based on microservices, which allows for flexible and scalable connection with various systems. Importantly, this integration model is independent of the selected implementation model, whether on-premises or SaaS, which ensures consistency and flexibility in the integration process regardless of the client's IT environment.

Unlimited integrations thanks to aveneo.SDK

Unlimited development and new features

The ability to freely develop our MES solution makes it the best choice because it will always be tailored to the unique needs of our customers

aveneo.MES.Implementation Thanks to the fact that we are the creators of the presented MES software, and not just implementers, we can freely and unlimitedly develop its functions and adapt it to the needs and nature of our clients' activities. On a daily basis, we create dedicated production solutions which, unlike ready-made solutions, do not force our clients to adapt their processes to the capabilities of the software. MES is often the first module on this path. By recording a sample of data after its implementation, it opens the way to further analysis of new areas allowing for the optimization of operational activities using dedicated production software.

  • Is the aveneo MES system compatible with my ERP software?

Yes, aveneo MES can integrate with any ERP available on the market. aveneo uses aveneo.SDK — a development toolkit enabling flexible, scalable integration with different systems, including ERP-class solutions. The microservice-based integration model is adaptable to varied needs and configurations.

  • What user interface languages are available in the MES system?

By default, aveneo MES is available in Polish and English. We also offer translations to any other language to match the needs of users in different countries.

  • How does the MES system handle data capture from older machines?

aveneo offers several ways to integrate with older machines in order to capture production data:

    • Machine data pull: if the machine exposes production data, MES can consume it through various communication protocols.
    • Machine integration: if the machine does not expose data directly, MES can be integrated through a dedicated interface to pull real-time data.
    • Additional sensors: when integration is not possible, aveneo can add external sensors that collect machine data. Sensors can measure temperature, pressure, speed, energy consumption and more.

aveneo always finds a way to collect data from older machines, regardless of their design or technology stack.

  • Can the MES system be used for production planning and scheduling?

Yes, MES can be used for production planning and scheduling. Data captured by MES is an excellent source of information for planners. Based on MES data you can determine resource availability, estimate lead times and identify bottlenecks.

aveneo offers two approaches for production planning and scheduling:

    • Dedicated APS module: integrated with MES and using its data to optimize the plan. APS takes into account order priorities, resource availability, lead times and technological constraints.
    • Integration with existing tools: aveneo can integrate MES with existing planning and scheduling systems — unifying data and keeping plans consistent across the company.

  • How long does MES implementation take?

Implementation time depends on several factors: the size and complexity of the company and the level of integration with other systems, which can extend the timeline. Customer involvement and available resources also materially affect delivery pace.

To estimate implementation time for your company, contact us. Our experts will analyse your needs and prepare a detailed proposal.

  • What type of technical support does aveneo offer?

We offer two basic technical support models for our MES system:

    • Support Agreement — guarantees reserved monthly support hours and priority resolution of incidents and issues.
    • SLA Agreement (Service Level Agreement) — guarantees MES availability and response time (e.g. 24/7 with 2-hour reaction). Includes access to a backup server or redundant environment in case of failure.

When MES is part of a long-term engagement with aveneo and we develop other modules together (APS, WMS, MRP, etc.), a separate support agreement is not required.

  • Can I see a demo of the MES system before deciding to buy?

Of course, you can see a demo before buying the MES system!

We provide a demo environment you can log into and explore on your own. It's a great way to familiarise yourself with the user interface and system capabilities.

The demo presents a back-office solution built entirely on aveneo.SDK. The demo environment showcases aveneo MES for a chocolate production process.

In addition to self-service testing, you can also schedule a presentation. During the session we will walk through MES capabilities together and discuss your specific needs. It's also a great opportunity to ask questions and get answers to whatever is on your mind.

  • How much does a MES system implementation cost?

Cost depends on scope and scale. A basic MES module for capturing production times and events starts at 20-35 k EUR. A full MES system with machine park integration, OEE reporting and data collectors costs 60-200 k EUR. aveneo offers a free needs analysis and individual quote depending on the number of workstations, machines and level of integration.

  • How is a MES system different from ERP?

ERP manages business processes (orders, finance, HR, inventory); MES manages production-floor processes — capturing times, order progress, machine events and raw-material consumption in real time. MES integrates with ERP and feeds it precise production data instead of estimates. In practice, MES and ERP complement each other, they don't compete.

  • What is the ROI of MES implementation?

Typically 6-18 months. The fastest gains come from: precise production-time accounting (instead of averages) — reducing cost under-estimation by 10-25%; OEE uplift of 5-15% thanks to identified micro-stoppages; waste and complaint reduction through full batch traceability. ROI depends on production scale — the larger the company, the faster the payback.
