PocketRocket connects you to your Mac from anywhere: an iPhone, an iPad, Apple Vision Pro or another Mac. No VPN, no port forwarding, with end-to-end encryption.
A family of native Apple apps plus the PocketRocket Host app in the menu bar of the Mac you connect to. Host introduces your Mac to your devices through iCloud: every device signed in to the same Apple account shows its tile by itself. No codes, no IP addresses, no setup.
You connect over the internet with no VPN and no open ports, even behind carrier CGNAT and on 5G, and every channel is end-to-end encrypted. The Mac can run with no monitor at all, and its physical displays go dark during a remote session so nobody nearby can watch.
Each platform gets a native app designed for its screen and its way of working.
Your Mac fits in your pocket: a screen tailored to the iPhone, ⌘ and ⎋ keys on a glass strip, Live Activity, over Wi-Fi or 5G.
Every iPad pixel filled with macOS, no black bars. A trackpad that feels like home, and two Macs at once, each in its own window.
Your Mac's screen in a window you pin in your space, at whatever size you need. It also works beyond 10 meters from the computer, where the built-in Mac Virtual Display gives up.
Open your home computer in a window of the Mac you carry: in a hotel, at the office, anywhere. A separate window per remote Mac, Retina sharp.
A lightweight app on the Mac you connect to: it introduces the Mac to your devices via iCloud, darkens its displays during sessions, enables headless operation and enforces your access rules.
For the duration of a session, your iPhone or iPad becomes the camera and microphone of your Mac, automatically. Take the call on the Mac while looking into the device in your hand.
PocketRocket finds your Mac through iCloud and picks the route by itself: it tries paths in order and upgrades to a better one without dropping the session.
Bonjour discovers the Mac on the same network live and marks it with a green LAN badge.
Running WireGuard or Tailscale? Add the Mac's VPN address and PocketRocket will use the tunnel whenever it is up.
If the router supports NAT-PMP or UPnP, Host opens a port by itself, by design only for the session, and closes it right after.
Behind carrier CGNAT, on 5G or on hotel Wi-Fi, both ends connect out to a relay that carries only encrypted bytes.
PocketRocket Host publishes your Mac's name and public key on your iCloud account.
Every device signed in to the same Apple account shows the Mac as a tile by itself. No codes, no IP addresses.
You tap the tile and PocketRocket tries the paths in order: local network, VPN, direct connection, relay.
Both ends agree on fresh session keys (X25519) and the Mac proves its identity with an Ed25519 signature.
If the session started over the relay, it upgrades to a better path as soon as one is ready, without reconnecting.
The Mac's physical displays go dark, and the session runs on a new virtual display cut exactly to your device's proportions.
PocketRocket does not squeeze the Mac's screen into your device. It creates a new virtual display with the exact proportions of your window.
The Mac encodes video in hardware: HEVC via VideoToolbox, in low-latency mode with no B-frames. Your device decodes in hardware and draws with Metal.
When the link weakens, PocketRocket first raises compression, then lowers frame rate, and only then detail. Lost packets are covered by adaptive error correction with a 5G loss mode.
The virtual display fills the device edge to edge: no black bars on iPad, any window size on Vision Pro.
Audio arrives encoded with Opus, through a buffer that adapts to the network.
Text, images and files both ways: copy on the iPad, paste on the Mac. You set the size limit on your device.
Switching from Wi-Fi to 5G or returning to the app after a while is one glass curtain, not a reconnect. The session keeps running and the new path is ready before the old one closes.
End-to-end encryption on every channel, a Mac that stays silent to strangers, and a relay that sees nothing.
Picture, sound, input, clipboard and files travel encrypted with ChaCha20-Poly1305. The Mac simply rejects unencrypted traffic.
Each session gets new X25519 keys, so past sessions stay private. The Ed25519 identity key never leaves the Mac's keychain.
Host answers nobody who cannot prove they know your Mac's key, much like WireGuard. An unknown device does not even get a refusal.
The relay forwards encrypted bytes it has no key for, and it cannot impersonate your Mac.
The Mac's password is released only after Face ID, Touch ID or Optic ID on your device, and is typed into the login window over an end-to-end encrypted channel.
The Mac's physical displays go dark for the session and come back afterwards. Nobody at the desk sees what you are working on.
A few scenarios where PocketRocket makes the biggest difference.
Fix the slide on the train before your stop. Full access to your office or home Mac from a device you carry anyway.
A Mac mini or Mac Studio in a closet or server room, operated entirely remotely, with no display or keyboard attached.
Apple's built-in Sidecar, Universal Control and Mac Virtual Display work within roughly 10 meters. PocketRocket also works when your Mac is far away.
We design and build it entirely in-house, from the native apps to the relay infrastructure. It is the same engineering we have delivered to clients for well over a decade, this time in a product for every Mac user.
Install PocketRocket Host on the Mac, get the app on your devices and tap the tile. Requirements, comparisons and downloads live on the product site.
